for all the naysayers, i have to wonder why. and the only conclusion i can come up with is: my friends told me Indiana Jones IV was average or below average to hype the movie down for me. this has to be the only reason. because Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a fantastic movie.

the most common view was that the result of the plot was “strange” and “not convincing”. but then i have to ask, what’s so convincing about stones that light up on fire when you’re hanging from a suspension bridge miles above a river? or a knight from the medieval period who’s still alive for 600 years stuck in a cave? that’s Indiana Jones. this movie by no means “pales” to the original three- in fact, it would sit comfortably among the series.

and who’s worrying about the plot being outlandish? you don’t think Indy surviving the crazy fiasco’s he’s survived in any of the previous three movies are in the least bit outlandish? once again, it’s Indiana Jones. if you’re not accepting of how crazy the plot is- then you’ve lost the kid inside of you completely. what may be true is that you probably need your inner kid to enjoy this movie- the same kid you were when you watched the original three.

but what i really don’t get is Indy fans giving this a hard time. i’m just gonna be blunt now and say that you have no idea what you’re talking about. this is Indy. it’s all Indy. “it wasn’t as good as the originals” oh please- i’m starting to think you’re just blindly repeating a catch-phrase. this was just as good as the originals and if you don’t think so, then you’re probably just jolted by your own expectation of the plot. but this particular plot, is all Spielberg. you know how he rolls with the space men- it’s fun for him.

i think maybe why some Indy fans were disappointed was because they thought this Indy was to be the ultimate Indy. a “topper” to the original three. and true, it wasn’t a topper- but it was still 100% Indy. thus bottom line: if you go watch this thinking this is “the last Indy” or “the best Indy” you’re retarded and you’re probably not gonna like the movie. if you go watch this expecting “a classic 80′s Indy movie” you’re already in line to buy the dvd.

it’s been years haven’t heard anything- but what’s more pressing is i’ve never seen him with a shirt on. he probably doesn’t even own any.

if you ever see these guys on the side of the road up ahead of you, as you’re driving along- do us all a favor and go as fast as humanly possible. these guys are taking a speed survey of the average speed of traffic flow during non-busy hours and whatever they record will possibly determine that road’s next posted speed limit (rounded up).

except, of course, if you’re in Brisbane. the speed surveying practices here should be illegal but they’ve probably found some kind of loophole in the law to justify it.

so they recently took a speed survey of Bayshore (one of the main roads of Brisbane), on the main stretch which is a good spot where the traffic flows quite freely any time of day. but, but… about a block and a half before the area of the speed survey operation, there were cops stationed on the side of the road in their cruisers parked next to one of those huge speed limit warning signs (where it shows you the current speed limit, then above it there’s your speed digitally posted). and some of the cops were out of the car with their hand up motioning to “slow down”.

that is… one hundred and ten percent, pure unfiltered BS. does the city of Brisbane not understand the point of having a speed survey? what is the point of having a SURVEY if you’re gonna rig it? that’s completely unjust.

the current speed limit is 45mph, but i can tell you for a fact that usual traffic flow on that road is 50-60mph. huge semi trucks are going that speed on Bayshore- it’s a pretty free flowing road. if the survey was conducted in a non-shady manner, the new speed limit would probably be 55mph. but as it stands, it’s still 45 cuz the city basically muscled us into saying it’s 45.

not saying i’m gonna do anything about it but uh…   i wouldn’t be surprised if one morning people are driving along that road and notice that sign’s been chopped off ;)
