here’s my movie quick review of the summer 2009:

G.I. Joe. it wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t an american hero. snake-eyes took a code of silence? how is that more interesting than the real story: his vocal cords were one of many things destroyed when his body was burned alive. and why is ripcord black? in the series he was the whitest of the white. but i think the real question is why is ripcord a wayan brother? don’t pay 11 bucks for this, it’s a rental.

District 9. instead, pay 11 bucks for this. great story, great characters, great action. it was intelligent as it was exciting. one thing that’s cool is a lot of thought went into the gear and guns (not surprising when the director’s a major halo fan). the weaponry was cooler than any of the gear in G.I. Joe in fact. but i guess that’s what separates a real sci-fi from the army of futuristic hollywood bs this summer.

eating at a restaurant, me and some friends found this painting hanging on the wall particularly intriguing:

if it is in fact, a more innocent topic, then it’s a poor choice of framing from the painter. you shouldn’t place the kids behind the old man- should’ve put them in front which would denote wandering kids. putting them behind makes them look like they’re being dragged…   just doesn’t send the right message out during these times.
