Apple is suing HTC for technology infringement- what I want to know is, for what specifically?
It’s not the same shape, not the same screen size, not even the same color. Is it because it’s touch screen? But Apple didn’t invent the touch screen phone. I guess we can pretty much rule out the physical. Maybe it’s the software then?
But the HTC Hero doesn’t function like the iPhone at all (and I have to assume that Apple is pointing fingers at the Hero because they couldn’t possibly be talking about the Windows Mobile HTC’s). Like what is similar? They have one particular clock that is the same color perhaps? The buttons, the icons- they’re all different. The way it moves, the way it functions, the way you access it- different.
Is it the battery icon they’re talking about? The fact that it turns green when it’s full? Hahahah what is the infringement? From the minute you unlock the screen (which is different too by the way) to how you call people, check your facebook/twitter account, to emailing and surfing- I couldn’t find a single similarity.
Based on iPhone’s app base, I can say that the iPhone can technically do more… but what the HTC does that’s comparative, the HTC does better. Is this what Apple is whining about? That the HTC can do emailing, surfing and call people as well? If that’s the case why not just sue everybody? Why only sue the only phone that can potentially steal your market?… Ohhhh.
Hey Cal, long time no see, it looks like you’re still tilting at windmills. Your argument was interesting, but Apple isn’t claiming a “look and feel” patent (which isn’t patentable), but a slew of technology patents which may or may not be enforceable. As always, it’s up to the lawyers to decide, not the patent office. See http://i.engadget.com/2010/03/02/apple-vs-htc-a-patent-breakdown/
